No. Many EU divorce decisions are recognised without a special recognition procedure. Other foreign judgments may require Portuguese review and confirmation. We assess the route first.
What does the €800 starting price cover?
It covers the base lawyer-led recognition service for a standard case. If a court procedure is required, the applicable court fee is separate. Unusual complexity or additional disputes may require a revised quote.
Can this usually be handled while I am abroad?
Often yes. The exact representation and document formalities depend on the origin of the divorce and the route required in Portugal.
Does divorce recognition also decide property or child issues?
Not automatically. Recognition of the divorce status is distinct from separate disputes about property, parental responsibility, maintenance or enforcement.
